The silane-functionalities within the hybrid coating create a mechanism for covalent bond formation between the coating and the metal substrate, resulting in superior adhesion to metallic, plated, and painted surfaces. The organic component of the formulation contributes flexibility and mechanical durability to the overall coating system. These combined properties produce a highly durable, hydrophobic coating with excellent abrasion resistance — applied at just 4–6 µm thickness.

Key Attributes

• Hydrophobicity and Watershed: Contact angle exceeding 110° and watershed angle below 5°. Liquids bead and shed from the surface rather than spreading and dwelling.
• Corrosion Protection: The water-shedding properties of the coating limit the time electrolytes remain in contact with the substrate, delaying corrosion initiation and extending the service life of metal components.
• Flexibility and Abrasion Resistance: The crosslinked polymer matrix delivers excellent flexibility and mechanical toughness — resisting abrasion, wear, and impact damage without delamination.
• Thickness and Weight: Applied at 1–6 µm, Gentoo is extremely thin and adds negligible weight — compatible with applications where dimensional tolerances or weight budgets are critical.
• Adhesion: Demonstrated robust adhesion to aluminium, steel, glass, acrylic, polycarbonate, polyurethane paint, and latex coatings.
• Environmental Durability: Excellent resistance to degradation from salt spray exposure and UV weathering over extended test periods.
• Ease of Application: Applied in a single coat using standard HVLP spray, flow coat, or brush methods. Minimal surface preparation required compared to conventional heavy coating systems.
